Not to be confused with the politician of the same name, Nikolai Astrup was a Norwegian artist known for his use of vivid colors in his landscape depictions. Traditional Sámi art combines functional objects, such as knives, cups, sneakers and bags, with beautiful designs. Rosemaling went out of fashion in Norway within the late 19th century.
